Editorial photography for couples who travel to Barcelona & Catalonia to marry
We are Dimitri & Anna, a two-photographer studio based in Barcelona. For over ten years we have photographed couples from the US, the UK, Asia and across Europe who fly in to marry here — in castles above the city, masías in the Catalan countryside and villas by the sea. Unposed, unfiltered, made to last.
Why couples fly in for Barcelona
A city wedding and a countryside wedding, forty minutes apart.
Barcelona gives you something few destinations can: Gaudí, the sea and a Gothic old town in the morning, and a 12th-century castle or a vineyard masía by sunset. Guests fly in directly from New York, London and Los Angeles, the light is warm from April to October, and the party rarely ends before 4 a.m.
We shoot both editorial flash portraits and natural-light documentary, so the day reads like a magazine story without ever feeling staged. We live here — we know which terrace catches the last light and which street is quiet at golden hour.
“Their style is the perfect blend of classic and elegant, and every photo looks like it belongs in a royal editorial.”

Venue guide
Barcelona wedding venues we know by heart
A few honest notes from the venues we return to most often — where the light is, where the portraits happen, what to plan for. See all our Barcelona weddings.
Castell Sant Marçal
Castle in Cerdanyola del Vallès · about 25 min from the city. Ceremony in the gardens, portraits on the stone stairs and around the castle. In summer we suggest a ceremony no earlier than 18:00.
La Baronia
Modernist estate, Sant Feliu de Codines · about 40–45 min. Exclusive use, one wedding a day. Garden ceremony, long dinner and dancing until late. Our most photographed venue — we know every corner at golden hour.
Xalet del Nin
Seaside villa from 1913, Vilanova i la Geltrú, just south of Sitges · about 40 min. Gardens down to the sea and the Mediterranean behind the ceremony. Plan couple portraits for the last half hour before sunset.
Castell de Tamarit
Castle on the sea, just north of Tarragona · about 1 h 15 min. Medieval walls, a Romanesque church and Tamarit beach below. Golden hour on the stone is worth timing the day around.
Masia Casa del Mar
White masía above the sea in the Garraf Natural Park, near Sitges · about 40–50 min. Large celebrations on open terraces; we photographed Sarina & Daniel’s Hindu wedding here.
Costa Brava
Blanes, Begur, Calella de Palafrugell · 1–2 h. Botanical gardens, cliffs and fishing villages for intimate weddings and day-after sessions.
Season & light
When to marry in Barcelona
May, June, September and October are the sweet spot: 22–27 °C, soft evening light and no August heat. Sunset is around 21:20 in June and 19:30 in early October — we build the portrait time around it. July and August work beautifully for seaside venues if the ceremony starts after 18:30.
A typical day
A Spanish wedding runs late
Getting ready 15:00 · first look 17:00 · ceremony 18:00 · cocktail 19:00 · couple portraits at sunset · dinner 21:00 · first dance and open bar from midnight. Ten hours of coverage takes you from the dress to the first hour of dancing; two days adds the welcome dinner or a city session.
Practical
Legal, guests, getting around
Most international couples sign the papers at home and hold a symbolic ceremony here — a civil wedding in Spain usually requires residency (legal vs symbolic, explained). Guests stay in Eixample or the Gothic Quarter and are driven to the venue in 30–60 minutes; a good planner arranges the shuttles.
