“How much should we budget?” is the second question every couple asks us, right after “are you free on our date?”. Spain is still better value than Lake Como or the Amalfi Coast, but a destination wedding is a full production. These are the ranges we see across the weddings we photograph near Barcelona, for around 80 guests. Treat them as a starting point, not a quote — every supplier prices differently.
The overall picture
For 80 guests at a castle or country estate near Barcelona, most of our couples spend somewhere between €60,000 and €120,000 on the wedding itself, not counting their own travel or guests' hotels. Intimate weddings of 20–40 people can come in far lower; large multi-day celebrations go higher.
Venue
Typical range: €8,000–25,000 for exclusive use on a Saturday in high season. Castles and estates near the city sit at the top; Fridays, Sundays and off-season dates are often noticeably cheaper. Some venues include their own catering and furniture in a per-guest price instead. Compare like for like.
Catering and drinks
Typical range: €150–300 per guest for cocktail, seated dinner, wine and a few hours of open bar. A Spanish cocktail hour is generous — practically a meal — and late-night snacks (recena) after midnight are expected. This is usually the biggest single line.

Planner
Typical range: €6,000–15,000, either a flat fee or a percentage of the budget. For a destination wedding with 40+ guests we strongly recommend one: contracts in Spanish, supplier coordination, transport and a calm person running the day.
Photography and film
Photography: our collections start from €4,000 for a full day with two photographers; two-day coverage with a welcome dinner or city session costs more. Video: expect roughly €3,000–6,000 for a good film team. See our collections for exact prices.
Flowers, music and the rest
- Flowers and styling: €5,000–20,000 — the most elastic line; a ceremony arch and centrepieces vary hugely.
- Music: €2,000–5,000 for a DJ and sound; more with live musicians for the ceremony and cocktail.
- Guest transport: €1,500–4,000 for shuttle coaches from the city and back in two waves.
- Officiant (symbolic ceremony): €700–1,500.
- Hair and make-up: €600–1,500 for the bride, more with trial and bridal party.
- Welcome dinner and Sunday lunch: budget separately — often €5,000–15,000 combined.
Where couples save without it showing
Choose a Friday or a date in early October. Pick a venue whose gardens do the decorating for you. Trim the guest list rather than every supplier — cost per guest drives most of the budget. And keep the welcome dinner informal: a tapas evening is more memorable than a second formal meal.

In short
- 80 guests near Barcelona: roughly €60,000–120,000 for the wedding day.
- Catering per guest and the venue are the two biggest lines.
- A planner pays for itself on a destination wedding.
- Fridays and early October bring real savings.
- Book photographer and venue first — they are the hardest to replace.
Frequently asked questions
Is Spain cheaper than Italy for a wedding?
Generally yes — venues and catering near Barcelona tend to cost less than equivalent villas on Lake Como or the Amalfi Coast, especially in peak season.
Do guests pay for their own hotels?
In most destination weddings, yes. Couples usually negotiate a group rate and cover the transport to and from the venue.
Is VAT included in Spanish quotes?
Not always. Spanish VAT (IVA) is 21% on most wedding services — always ask whether a quote includes it.
How much is the photography deposit?
We hold your date with a 50% deposit; the balance is due one month before the wedding.
