A La Baronia wedding near Barcelona
This La Baronia wedding was photographed by Fotoclip Studio, and the gallery above follows the day from the first details to the last dance. It is a real wedding, shown as it happened — no styled shoot, no staged moments.
Below we share what we know about the venue as photographers, how we work with the light there and a few practical notes for couples planning something similar.

The estate
La Baronia sits on a hillside in Sant Feliu de Codines, around 40–45 minutes from Barcelona, surrounded by gardens and woodland. Its modernist architecture — built on the base of an older Catalan farmhouse — gives a La Baronia wedding a character that is very different from a hotel or a beach venue: towers, stone arches, balconies and long views across the valley. Only one wedding is held there per day, so the whole estate belongs to the couple and their guests.
Inside, the house has bright rooms and a bridal suite with a balcony over the landscape, which make getting-ready photographs feel personal rather than staged. Outside, paths lead from the terraces into the woods, so a short walk is enough to find quiet corners for portraits away from guests.
Our approach to photographing La Baronia
Every La Baronia wedding we photograph follows the same principle: plan the day around the light, then stay out of the way. Mornings start with details and getting ready in the house, where the windows give soft, directional light. The ceremony spaces outdoors are lovely in the late afternoon, when the sun is lower and the stone turns warm. For the couple portraits we combine two styles — natural light for soft, romantic images in the gardens and editorial flash for bold, magazine-style portraits against the architecture and the sky. After dinner we keep photographing the speeches and the dance floor, so the story of the day is complete.

Planning a La Baronia wedding: 4 practical notes
- Season. May, June, September and October give the most comfortable temperatures and the best evening light for a La Baronia wedding.
- Guests. Most international guests stay in Barcelona; plan coach times early and share them with the invitation.
- Timeline. Leave a gap between the ceremony and dinner for family photos and a short portrait session.
- Night portraits. The illuminated façade after dark is perfect for a few minutes of editorial flash portraits.
Ceremony, dinner and party at La Baronia
One of the strengths of a La Baronia wedding is how easily the day moves through different spaces. Ceremonies are often held outdoors, in front of the house and its green façade or in the gardens, with the hills as a backdrop. The cocktail hour usually moves to the terraces, where guests can enjoy the views while we photograph family groups and a few portraits nearby. Dinner can be served outdoors under festoon lights on warm evenings, or in the indoor halls when the weather is cooler, and the party continues inside until late. For photographers, each change of space brings new light and a new atmosphere, which keeps the gallery varied from the first image to the last.
When to plan your wedding near Barcelona
Catalonia has a long wedding season, and the month you choose shapes your whole La Baronia wedding. Late spring brings green hills and fresh flowers; June gives the longest evenings of the year; July and August are hot in the afternoon but perfect for dinner outdoors after dark; September and October are many couples' favourite months, with warm days, softer light and fewer tourists. In winter the countryside venues are quieter and the light is low and golden all day, which suits small, intimate celebrations. Whatever the month, sunset in Spain is later than most guests expect, so dinners and dancing usually start later than in the UK or the US.
Building a relaxed timeline
The most beautiful wedding photographs come from days that are not rushed. We usually suggest starting from the sunset time and counting backwards: portraits in the hour before sunset, dinner after dark, the cocktail hour before that and the ceremony when the sun is already softer. Adding small buffers between each part of the day — fifteen minutes is enough — keeps the schedule calm when hair and make-up run late or guests linger after the ceremony. A calm timeline is the real secret of a good La Baronia wedding: it gives us time for candid moments as well as portraits, and lets the couple actually be present with their families.
5 final notes for your La Baronia wedding
- Light first. When we prepare a La Baronia wedding, we always look at the light before anything else: where the sun sets, where the shade falls at ceremony time and which corners glow in the evening.
- One shared timeline. For a La Baronia wedding, share the final schedule with your planner, venue and photographers a week before the day.
- Less décor than you think. A La Baronia wedding rarely needs heavy decoration; the setting already does most of the work in photographs.
- The trip is part of it. Guests often tell us the journey is part of the La Baronia wedding experience — a few days of travel, food and sun around the celebration.
- Check the calendar. If you are still choosing a date for your La Baronia wedding, ask the venue about busy weekends and local festivities in the area.
We are often asked what makes a La Baronia wedding feel different from other celebrations. For us, a La Baronia wedding is about the place itself — its history, its light and the way guests move through it — and our job is to show that honestly in every La Baronia wedding we photograph.
Every La Baronia wedding we photograph is different, and that is the beauty of the estate. Curious about the area? The village of Sant Feliu de Codines is a small town in the Vallès Oriental, north of Barcelona. For more options, read our guide to the best wedding venues near Barcelona.
